Behind a keypad-locked door on the second floor of the Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the rhythm and dance of the 1970s lives once more.
Distinctive notes of the funk, disco, rock, rhythm and blues, and jazz era fill the indoor-outdoor space located in the historic Pantlind Wing off of Monroe Avenue, where revolving disco balls, lights, and a bold, red palette offer a speakeasy-inspired look back into the past. White marble and bronze fixtures set the stage for an Art Deco- and contemporary-inspired interior that unfolds out onto a glass-covered balcony open year-round.
Cocktails take a nostalgic turn with elevated classics like Harvey Wallbanger, Tequila Sunrise, and Miller High Life served in champagne flutes; while small bites offer variations on bento box-style snacks.
It is the best kept secret in the Hotel District, where the monthly passcode is whispered among those in the know and whose name is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the oft-response of “Where do you want to go?”
IDC, or I Don’t Care, awaits.
