On Saturday, August 21st, more than 100 whiskeys from brands worldwide will be featured at DeVos Place as part of the annual Whiskey Business event, which last took place in 2019. The event is a Michigan-based gathering for whiskey connoisseurs and those interested in exploring, with ample opportunities for guests to taste their way across regions, sampling everything from locally produced bourbons to single malts and small batches to single grains.
“Our mission is to offer over 125 whiskies from all over the world, giving attendees the opportunity to sample products that they may not have experienced prior to the festival,” said John Badanjek, president of Real Detroit Events, which promotes Whiskey Business.
Guests can taste a selection of single malt, blended scotches, Irish, bourbon, Tennessee, Michigan and Canadian whiskeys, all while surrounded by the culinary offerings, singular spirits, and nearby lodging offered throughout the rest of Grand Rapids. While at the event, brand ambassadors will provide descriptions and insights into the whiskeys on-hand, and several restaurants will be offering whiskey-inspired appetizers. Brands such as Benchmark Beverage Company, Proximo, Luxco Inc., and Iron Fish Distillery will feature selections of their whiskey portfolios, and some brands will offer featured cocktails, like Freedom Whiskey Co.’s Freedom Lemonade and Iron Fish Distillery’s Salted Maple Old Fashioned.
“The festival is truly unique in that attendees can sample American whiskies, scotch, and bourbons from some of the world’s best distilleries in a fun and festive atmosphere. The event also features souvenir glassware, keepsake photos, live music, games, and local food trucks will offer food for sale,” Badanjek added.
Advance tickets are $65 for VIPs and $45 for general admission and include 15 drink sample tickets or 10 drink sample tickets, respectively.
